| Description: | As the Software Development Team Lead you facilitate the day-to-day tasks of a team of software developers. You work in a fast-paced, Internet-driven industry where you are expected to eat, sleep, and dream about making your team successful, motivated, and engaged to create better products. You provide administrative, technical, and people leadership for your team.
Your responsibilities to the customers (the people who pay us the big bucks) include:
* Thinking bigger and pushing your team farther to develop new products.
* Taking those products and making them even better.
* Helping to build the best email hosting system in the world.
Your responsibilities to your co-workers (the people pounding at your door) include:
* Leading all day-to-day activities of your team to meet target delivery dates.
* Maintaining and monitoring effective and thorough communication among the software developers.
* Ensuring projects are completed on time and according to software specifications.
* Serving as focal point for other departments on project status or other project information.
* Providing technical and professional leadership to software developers.
* Guiding, mentoring, and growing highly skilled and effective software development personnel.
* Assisting with the delivery of timely performance evaluations.
* Participating in product management function teams to help define product direction.
Important Skills and Characteristics:
* You are self-motivated and have solid knowledge and experience of the software development life cycle.
* You have an excellent understanding of leading technologies and architectural designs, with a web development background being desirable.
* You have excellent communication (written and oral) skills, teamwork skills, and negotiating skills.
* You have the ability to identify, prioritize, and execute tasks to meet critical project deadlines.
* You have the ability to work effectively across departments and to exercise tact, diplomacy, and good judgment in dealing with various clients and staff.
* You want to see your employees grow and achieve their potential.
