Description:This job is within the Engineering Team of ADMMicro/GridPoint C&I located in Roanoke, VA. The position will focus on electronic design and firmware development, but will also involve broad engineering support for microprocessor-based electronic products, including all life-cycle phases of both hardware and firmware. In addition to all phases of new product development, job assignments will include testing and support of existing products in various stages of development. High level software development may also be required.
Duties:Hardware Technology Development • High level design of complex monitoring and control products and systems including integration of electronic, electro-mechanical, wiring, and packaging components • Electronic hardware and firmware/software design, development, and testing, including all phases from prototype creation through final production designs • Complex detailed electronic design including component evaluation and selection, circuit design, and board layout • Project management to coordinate the efforts of various disciplines and oversee moderately complex projects from concept through long-term support of in-service systems • Gather product/system requirements from various internal and external stake-holders • Prepare engineering specifications, cost estimates, project schedules and documentation • Conduct design reviews • Validation and system integration testing including develop of test standards and test stations • Manufacturing startup Ongoing Support of Products and Systems • Engineering support of in-service systems, including installation assistance, trouble-shooting and on-site test and inspection • Technical interface to customers, contract manufacturers, and other parties Other • Assist with training and professional development of other employees as assigned • Carry out other technology and business support as may be assigned by the position supervisor
Qualifications:Education o Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) preferred Experience o Six years performing embedded hardware/firmware development o Experience with PIC microcontrollers, Texas Instrument DSPs, Xilinx CPLDs and Rabbit Semiconductor core modules preferred o Experience with C and VHDL programming preferred o Knowledge in developing equipment to meet international standards such as CE preferred
